Can anyone recommend a company for a structured settlement?
I have been waiting for a 31,000 payout from workers comp., it has been 2 years and my attorney says he has up to 5 years. I want to look into a structured settlment. Anyone have good experiences w/ companies. I have heard about Oasis which if you don’t win you don’t have to pay back but also it’s fees are high. There website says if I take 1000 i’ll owe 1500. any input?
if you are appointed beneficiary for a structured settlement of a minor, does that change when he becomes 18?
I have a friend who’s son was receiving monthly payments set up through a structured settlement, as the result of losing his mother in a car accident. At the time the structured settlement was set up, the son was a minor, so my friend, his father, automatically became benificiary of the settlement. Now the son was killed 2 months ago in a car accident at the age of 19. My friend, his father, has been contacted by the insurance company about the remainder of the settlement. My friend filled out some papers and sent to the insurance company. They contacted him again and told him that when his son became 18, that he was no longer beneficiary, and that no one was because the son never appointed one after he turned 18, and now the remainder of the settlement would go to an estate for the son. And now he has to go pay a bunch of money that he does’nt have to Probate Court, just to get his son’s settlement, in order to finish paying funeral expenses, and such. Is this true?

J G Wentworth and i are working together. I am selling a portion of my settlement to them in ?
exchange for cash. My brother and a friend are concerned I’m making a big mistake.
My situation is that I am recently divorced and unable to move out of my ex’s houses due to the fact we are so much in debt. I could play the whole begging game with the creditr card companies, but that would screw with my credit as a newly-single mom and take months to get through. However, the plan with JG is 1) quicker and 2)saves my credit.
Can anyone gove me advice as far as the right decission to make concerning my debt and how to get out on my own? Thanks!
Yes, a lawyer will be reviewing the docs and i am finding the lawyer, paying for him/her myself (Peachtree offered & paid for the lawyer….gee, I wonder how much they paid him??) Anyway. And also, the death-factor…I’m the victim Shot at age 13, this is the settlement that resulted. Also, yes, I can live with it. I guess I’m just looking for anymore solutions to the $ situation I got myself into.
How much does it cost to take money out of a structured settlement?
Let’s say for example I have $140,000 in the bank that will be payed to me over the next 20 years, with a payment every 4 years. How much would it cost if I wanted to take out $40,000 out of my structured settlement? I’m just looking for rough numbers of what companies charge for taking money out in advance of a structured settlement (not a lump sum because I want only 40k)?
